Drone Show with 360 Drones for the 50th Old Town Festival Jever

For the 50th anniversary of the Old Town Festival Jever, Lunatx SFX transformed the evening sky above the Frisian town into a glowing stage. In a drone show lasting around ten minutes, 360 synchronized LED drones told the story of Jever, its landmarks and the history of the traditional town festival.

From Schloss Jever and the city skyline to the peacock from the Schlosspark and Fräulein Maria, numerous motifs with a direct connection to the city appeared in the sky. One particular highlight of the show: the historic portrait of Fräulein Maria gradually transformed into her special Playmobil figure. An animated Ferris wheel, two Jever bottles clinking together and the iconic Jever lettering completed the aerial production.

For the grand finale, all 360 drones formed the anniversary number “50” – a glowing final highlight celebrating the 50th edition of the Old Town Festival.

The Jeversche Wochenblatt also covered the production on site and reported in detail on the drone show for the 50th Old Town Festival Jever, as well as the technology and creation of the custom aerial motifs.

Custom Drone Shows for Town Festivals and Anniversaries

For the 50th Old Town Festival, no off-the-shelf show was used. Motifs, animations and transitions were custom-designed for Jever and combined to tell a visual story of the city. Well-known landmarks, regional identity and elements of the Old Town Festival were transformed into large-scale images and animations in the night sky.

The production also showcased the creative possibilities of modern drone shows: the Ferris wheel rotated in the sky, while two Jever bottles moved towards each other and clinked together. The portrait of Fräulein Maria first transformed into a smaller figure before additional drones formed the distinctive special Playmobil figure.

At exactly 11:00 p.m., the 360 show drones took off from the nearby take-off and landing site. Following precisely programmed flight paths, they created formations at altitudes of up to 200 meters and spanning around 100 meters in width. Individually controllable LEDs enabled precise color changes, animations and seamless transitions between the individual motifs.

The drone show in Jever demonstrates how local history, landmarks, brands and a specific occasion can be combined into a custom show concept. Modern drone technology thus creates more than a sequence of spectacular images: an aerial production that is unmistakably connected to its location.
