The elements of fire and water dance beside the tallest building in the world.

At the »Emaar New Year’s Eve« on 31 December 2012 in Dubai, more than one million people from all over the world celebrated the turn of the year 2012/2013. Another two billion viewers watched the spectacle live in front of their home TV screens. A special highlight was the 35-minute countdown to welcome the New Year.

As part of a spectacular multimedia show, the Düsseldorf pyro and effects specialist Lunatx SFX enriched the world’s largest New Year’s Eve gala on the Persian Gulf with a two-minute flame show. Special feature: The Lunatx SFX flame system had to be implemented in the already permanently installed water show as well as the entire multimedia concept of the event. According to the motto »The Show must go on«, the multimedia performance will be shown twice a day until 4 February.

The venue for the celebrations was the Burj Khalifa in central Dubai, the tallest building in the world. The organizer Emaar Properties Dubai thrilled the guests with an unprecedented interplay of several show elements. Afterwards, the brilliant multimedia spectacle started on Lake Burj.

Lunatx SFX and the 68 X-Flames

Planning time of two months, pre-production phase of two and a half weeks.

According to the objectives of the lead agency Avantgarde Brand Services FZ LL Dubai, Creative Director Andree Verleger from ABC Event Production developed the creative concept for the event, while Creative Director Frank Lohse from Lunatx SFX were responsible for the show design of the Flame Show. Lohse’s team realized the complex production within a planning period of two months and a subsequent pre-production phase of two and a half weeks. The setup consisted of 68 X-Flame systems installed on Lake Burj. 56 X-Flame C.1 flame systems, six swiveling X-Flame F15 systems and six X-Flame Giant systems were used as show equipment.
